Cdr Avanish Prakash Dureha is a Greater Noida-based wildlife photographer whose passion for nature photography began in 1978 and has since spanned over four decades. A retired Naval Officer and Project Management Consultant, he has balanced a dynamic professional life with an enduring love for the wild.
Avanish’s photography has taken him across India - from the iconic landscapes of Ranthambore, Corbett, Panna, Sunderban, and Kabini to the vibrant ecosystems of Jorbeer, Chambal, Rajaji, and Pilibheet. Internationally, his camera has traveled through Vietnam, Kenya, Thailand, Cambodia, Uzbekistan, and Indonesia. His portfolio encompasses a wide range of genres, including mammals, birds, landscapes, and street photography.
A dedicated mentor, Avanish regularly teaches photography and Lightroom, mentoring emerging talent through platforms like Delhi Photography Club. He also works as an evangelist for OM System, using his expertise with gear like the OM-1 and OM-3, paired with M.Zuiko 40-150mm and 300mm f/4 lenses.
His images have been showcased in over 150 exhibitions globally and featured in leading newspapers like The Indian Express and Hindustan Times. He has judged several wildlife and birding competitions in and around NCR and actively conducts both physical and virtual workshops. Though once a frequent photo contest participant, he now focuses on teaching and community-driven initiatives.
Outside photography, Avanish is an avid reader, enjoys dabbling in the equities market, and takes pride in his family’s long military legacy. At Wild By Nature, Avanish brings with him a wealth of field experience, military discipline, and a deep-rooted belief in nurturing responsible, ethical wildlife photography for the next generation.
