Divya Shree Ashwath
Karnataka
Divya Shree A is a naturalist and nature educator based in Hassan, Karnataka. Her photographic work spans mammals, birds, amphibians, insects, and reptiles, - captured across regions like Nagarahole, Bhadra, Ranganthittu, Mysore, Coorg, Wayanad, and beyond.
Since 2021, Divya has travelled extensively through Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Goa, and Pondicherry to pursue her growing passion for wildlife documentation. She works with a Sony Alpha system, using it to explore and document biodiversity in varied habitats.
Apart from photography, she is known for a rare scientific contribution: describing Ligdus garvale, a new spider species found in Kodagu. It is only the second species ever identified under the genus Ligdus, and the first in over 129 years.
Outside the field, Divya lives with a close-knit family and four beloved pets - Muddu, Rudy, Shadow, and Temo. Her calm comes from mandala art, backyard exploration, and birdwatching, all of which tie into her belief that nature education is essential for meaningful conservation.
