About Mentor

Shilpa Prakash ( 1VAAS )

Karnataka

Shilpa Prakash is a wildlife photographer whose lens is guided not just by light, but by an honest love for nature. Based in Bangalore, she balances a high-responsibility role as Lead Assistant Vice President at an international bank, with a wild and wide-eyed passion for the natural world.

With over 20 years of experience in the corporate world  including early stints at Infosys, Reuters, Deutsche Bank, and State Street, Shilpa’s journey into photography began as a personal escape. But what started as a creative outlet quickly evolved into something deeper and more devoted. Since 2020, she has been capturing stunning wildlife moments across South, Central, North, and Northeast Indian parks, as well as internationally in Sri Lanka and Kenya.

Armed with her Nikon Z50 and Z6iii and a sharp eye for detail, Shilpa is drawn to photographing mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, insects, and landscapes. Her work is a quiet celebration of diversity not just in species, but in light, movement, and meaning.

Shilpa sees nature not as a destination, but as home. One of her core beliefs is that we are not visitors to the wild, we are part of it. This perspective breathes through her photography and the way she mentors others. She’s committed to making wildlife photography more inclusive and accessible, especially for those balancing other careers or roles in life.

Outside the wilderness and boardrooms, Shilpa is a proud South Indian, a dedicated mother, and an avid reader. She’s married to a well-known food connoisseur and together they’re raising a nature-loving 12-year-old son who has already joined them on safaris to Kenya, Kaziranga, Corbett, Kabini, and Gir.

As a mentor with Wild By Nature, Shilpa brings wisdom, warmth, and real-world relatability. She understands what it means to pursue photography alongside work, motherhood, and everyday life and helps others do the same with grace, grit, and heart
