Soumyajit Nandy

West Bengal

Soumyajit Nandy is a seasoned wildlife tour operator and photographer who has been shooting since 2008, with a deep focus on mammals and birds. His extensive fieldwork spans some of the most diverse and ecologically significant regions in South Asia – including Bandipur, Nagarhole, Mudumalai, Bandhavgarh, Sundarbans (India & Bangladesh), Kaziranga, Manas, Corbett, Pilibhit, Tadoba, Pench, Kanha, Bardiya (Nepal), and many more across India’s heartlands.

His work has been widely published, featured in Sanctuary Asia, NatGeo Traveller, Times of India, Outlook, India Post, UNESCO brochures, Mongabay, WWF, Wikipedia, Business Economics, and even platforms like IndiGo’s in-flight magazine and a TMC campaign poster.

A pioneer of wildlife photography tours in the Sundarbans, Soumyajit is especially known for his tiger tracking expertise – a skill that’s earned him collaborations with BBC, NatGeo, and other major documentary producers. He is credited with discovering the tiger tracking mechanism in the Sundarbans and has assisted photoshoots across Kaziranga, Bandhavgarh, Pilibhit, and Surai.

In 2014, he won the 3rd prize in the Himalayan Birds competition organized by Saveus at the Arunachal Bird Festival.

Beyond the field, Soumyajit enjoys music, movies, wildlife documentaries, and photo/video editing. He believes that being a great naturalist is key to becoming a great wildlife photographer.
