Workshop Overview

Digital photography has transformed wildlife photography over the last decade. Modern mirrorless cameras offer powerful autofocus systems, faster shooting speeds and improved performance in challenging light. At the same time, post-processing tools have evolved significantly, allowing photographers to refine their images with far greater control than ever before.

However, many wildlife photographers struggle to fully utilise these advancements. Strong images captured in the field often fail to reach their full potential because the technical workflow - both during capture and in post-processing - is not clearly understood.

This masterclass is designed to simplify that process. In this two-day online workshop, Mentor Siddhartha Banerji will guide participants through the complete workflow of wildlife photography - beginning with mirrorless camera fundamentals and field techniques, and moving into a structured post-processing process using Adobe Camera RAW and Adobe Photoshop.

Participants will learn how to approach wildlife photography with greater clarity and intention, focusing on exposure, composition and disciplined editing techniques that enhance the photograph while maintaining natural and authentic results.

This workshop is ideal for beginners and enthusiasts who want to build a stronger technical foundation and move toward more confident wildlife photography.

What You’ll Learn

Day 1: Mirrorless Fundamentals for Wildlife Photography

  1. Understanding the advantages of mirrorless systems and how they differ from traditional DSLR cameras.
  2. Exposure fundamentals for wildlife photography - learning how ISO, aperture and shutter speed work together to control motion, light and depth.
  3. Understanding autofocus systems and focusing points for tracking moving wildlife subjects.
  4. Learning how metering modes work and how they help achieve balanced exposures in difficult lighting conditions.
  5. Using exposure compensation effectively in changing light environments often encountered during wildlife photography.
  6. Composition techniques including framing, subject placement and visual balance to create stronger wildlife images.

Day 2: Wildlife Post-Processing Workflow

  1. Correcting exposure and tonal balance to refine wildlife photographs during post-processing.
  2. White balance adjustments to restore accurate and natural colour.
  3. Cropping techniques to improve composition and visual impact.
  4. Understanding global versus targeted adjustments in Adobe Camera RAW and building a non-destructive editing workflow.
  5. Using masking tools such as linear gradients, radial gradients and subject selections to apply precise adjustments.
  6. Working with Hue, Saturation and Luminance controls to refine colours and tonal relationships.
  7. Understanding the basics of colour calibration for consistent and accurate colour rendering.
  8. Applying selective sharpening techniques to highlight subject details without introducing unwanted artifacts.
  9. Managing noise reduction in high ISO wildlife images while preserving detail.
  10. Using Dodge and Burn techniques in Adobe Photoshop to enhance contrast and guide the viewer’s attention.
  11. Export settings for print and social media including file size, sharpening and colour space.
