Workshop Overview
Digital photography has brought tremendous advantages to wildlife photographers in recent years. we not only have cameras and lenses advanced in today's time, but the post-processing technology has too by allowing us to continually raise the bar and strive for excellence in the images that we create. many wildlife photographers, however, get bogged down trying to keep up with these advancements, thus many good images that could become great images remain untouched. These images simply never live up to their potential. This workshop is designed to share the strategies and techniques that Mentor Siddhartha Banerji himself uses to improve and simplify his post-processing workflow using the latest versions of Adobe Camera RAW and Photoshop.
This will be a compact, hands-on wildlife photography workshop covering camera fundamentals and post-processing for wildlife images. Learn how to expose, compose, and process your photos for print and social media, and apply colour grading and selective sharpening for natural, high-impact results. Ideal for beginners and hobbyists moving toward intermediate skills.
What You’ll Learn (both days)
- Exposure correction for wildlife: reading histograms, recovering highlights/shadows, contrast control.
- White balance for natural color: setting WB in grasslands/forests, mixed light fixes.
- Global vs targeted adjustments: when to use each; non-destructive workflow.
- Masking techniques in ACR: Subject/Background/Color Range; linear & radial gradients for sky, background blur, eye-pop, etc.
- HSL (Hue/Saturation/Luminance): separating greens/browns, feather and fur tonality, skin-safe color edits for human elements if any.
- Color calibration & color grading: neutral base → creative looks for mammals, birds, low light.
- Selective sharpening to make the subject stand out; edge halos avoidance.
- Noise reduction & noise addition (grain) for high-ISO shots; balancing detail vs smoothness.
- Dodge & Burn in Photoshop: micro-contrast sculpting for feathers, eyes, whiskers.
- Export settings for prints (dpi, color space) and social media (size, sharpening, watermarking).
